We're a lively community and a developed area with a lot of local facilities and utilities including school, kindergarten and daycare, shops, doctors, clubs, and associations.

Only 11 km from Kaiserslautern and close to the Highway L401 and several Freeways (A6 and A63 in Sembach, A6 in Enkenbach) we are well-located. Experience the local way of shopping at the well-sorted Supermarkets (Penny, Rewe), bakery and coffee shops, liquor store, candy shop, drugstore, and flower shop. Your little ones can be registered at one of two municipal daycare centers or in the protestant Kindergarten on a space available basis. Children age 7 to 11 years can find a place at the local elementary school.

There are plenty of recreational activities you can discover. You can go to the gym, to our sports field with floodlight, visit our outdoor swimming pool in the summer, and you can join the equestrian club in the district Fröhnerhof if you like riding a horse.

In our idyllic location, we're surrounded by nature which makes Mehlingen a quiet and peaceful community to live in. A popular leisure time destination is the Mehlinger Heide, the vastest heath landscape in south Germany.  Also, there are hiking trails, dating back to the Romans and Celtics. If you feel a need for an adrenalin rush, visit our high rope course. Over there you will also find the training camp of Kaiserslautern's famous soccer team 1.FCK.

There is currently a project by the charity association Mehlingen hilft e.V. (Mehlingen helps), where people without cars can get a ride for free at benches around the neighborhood.

Spend your free time with others and connect with locals at 27 clubs and associations in the community offering sports, arts and cultural activities. Once a year there is a county fair and also a Christmas Market. Furthermore, there are barbecues, soccer games, cycle races, and more events.
