The 1. Lauterer Bouleclub / Otterbach 1989 e.V. currently has about 35 members which makes it one of the smaller boules clubs in Rhineland-Palatinate. We have members of every age groupe, from those born in 1933 to those in 2002. The establishment of our Boulodromes „Im Himmelreich“ close to Otterbach in 1998 added many new members.

Very few of our members are so-called „passive“ membes and most of them are usually out and about playing boules at various championships or league matches. Our athletic success has constantly been improving over the last couple of years. Our club has one team in the Deutschen Pétanque-Bundesliga, the highest boules league in Germany. Furthermore, we are the top team in the league Rheinland-Pfalz-Mitte (Bezirksliga and Bezirksklasse). 

If you are intersted in playing boules you are more than welcome to play a couple of games with us even without being a member of the 1. Lauterer Bouleclub / Otterbach 1989 e.V. ! Experience the beauty of boules!

TUS Otterbach is the biggest club in Otterbach with more than 1000 members. About 1/3 of all members are kids and teenagers; 2/3 of all members are female. More than 20 coaches offer over 50 hours of fitness, health, team sports, recreational sports and competetive sports. You can join three hours for free with full insurance coverage. Just come, talk to the coach and join.
We own our own multi-purpose arena, the ­»Oskar-Steiner-Halle«. The arena hosts between 80-400 people. Renting through: Ferdinand Germann (Sign-up at least 1 month in advance; Phone: 0 63 01-3 23 48)

Short description

„Hobby-Singers e.V.“ was founded August 22 1971 in Otterbach. Under conducter Franz Trinkaus catholic and protestant men met for the first choir practice focussing on Chrisitan-Orthodox Music.

After intensive studies of this music the singers fell in love with the distanct characteristics of it, especially the mix between deep melancholia, dreaminess and compassion. Worldly Russian, Italian, English and German songs were added later. The inventory of songs was constantly updated in served in many services and concerts near and far. ( including the St. Peters Basilica in Rome, Ljubljana and Bled in Slovenia, Munich, Speyer, Saarbrücken, Mainz and Kaiserslautern as well as many other German cities) As of now, the club has more than 700 members and constantly expanded its work. Apart from singing, the club focusses on bringing people together and youth work . Both our men and co-ed choir (Hobby-Swingers) are working on valuable cultural contributions.

Short description

Our house in Otterbach has been housing people with disabilites since 1976. They are supposed to feel safe and recieve all the necessary help to live a life as self-determined as possible. There are two housing groups. Each group has between nine and ten members. One group is living downstairs, the other upstairs. Every group has living area, dining area and a kitchen. There are single and double rooms. The rooms are already furnished but our members are welcome to bring their own things. Bathrooms can be found on every floor. We offer the following meals: Breakfast, lunch, afternoon coffee, dinner and food outside of meal hours. Furthermore, we provide various drinks.

Our recreational department has lots to offer: Excursions, sport, cinema or vacation. There is a music and theatre group and ever now and then we celebrate certain festivals. There is an inhabitant representation, called „Heimbeirat.” Our house is staffed 24/7. In our neighboring house there are 8 more people living. .

The Zen-Bogyo-Do e.V. Otterbach teaches Japanese JIU JITSU, one the world’s oldest self-defense techniques. I combines elements of karate, judo and aikido, meaning punches, kicks, tosses, etc., into a succesful way of self-defense against various attacks. Jiu Jitsu is a weaponfree form of self-defense and there is no prior knowledge, strength or physical fitness necessary. Jiu Jitsu is perfect for all genders and age groups.

Any boy or girl older than six can become a member of our club. Even adults in their 30’s, 40’s or 50’s can start Jiu Jitsu and practice in a comfortable environment and keep physically fit. 
Our club is a member of the Deutschen Jiu Jitsu Bund (DJJB) and the Pfälzer Turnerbund. Furthermore, we are a member of the Deutschen Sportbund, that is also insuring us.

Members older than 16 are also allowed to use our gym.

What we offer:
Kids: Once or twice a year we offer crash-courses for kids. If a kid can’t make it to the crash-course they are not able to start Jiu Jitsu. The regular practice is open to children 8 and older. Furthermore there is a younger group for children 6 and older. In this group we focus on exercises that bring fun and strengthen coordination.

Youth and Adults:  Our beginners lessons are every Tuesday from 7 – 8.15 p.m. You are always welcome to join!
