    Bulk waste is collected upon request

    Each household registered for waste disposal has the opportunity to have bulk waste picked up twice a year (up to 5 cubic meters per pickup).

    You‘ll be notified of the pickup date in writing approx. 10 days after your request. The usual waiting time is approximately 3 weeks.

  • Collection dates

    Waste Management

    In Reichenbach-Steegen, garbage is collected on Fridays.

    Non-recyclable waste (black can) is picked up with the yellow bags (recyclable materials) every other week, alternating with biodegradable waste (brown can). Please place the can at the curb before 6 a.m. on the collection day.

    Paper waste (blue can) is collected every 4 weeks with the brown cans. Please place the can for paper waste at the curb before 6 a.m. on the collection day.

    The waste management of the County Administration Kaiserslautern compiled a very helpful Garbage Guide. The printed brochure is available at the Ramstein town hall and a digital version can be downloaded here.

    There is also a handy Garbage Guide KL County-App in English for the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The App includes the amended refuse collection plans, a reminder function for the collection days and a lot of general information about the waste management. Download the app here.

    Waste separation

    To ensure high-quality compost, it is essential that the collection point is not contaminated by other waste.

    What you may dump:

    - clippings of trees and hedges, trunks and root stocks without soil with a max. diameter of 40 cm

    - grass clippings

    - leaves

    - plants

    - plant parts

    What you may NOT dump:

    - biodegradable waste such as fruit, vegetables, food leftovers

    - construction waste

    - grave decorations

    - non-recyclable waste

    - pet litter

    - root stocks and hedges exceeding 40 cm diameter

    Monday to Saturday 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 7 p.m.

    It is not permitted to discard glass at other times. Particularly not on Sundays or German holidays.

    Correct separation

    Please put glass without lids, screw caps or corks, separated by color into the designated containers. Dumping glass, paper or other waste on or near the containers is prohibited and will be penalized as an administrative offense.

    What goes in the glass container

    Clean and empty non-returnable glass bottles, flasks and jars.

    Glass of other colors: Please put glass that isn’t white, brown or green into the container for green glass.

    What does NOT go in the glass container

    chinaware, stoneware, glass panels/window panes, light bulbs, leaded glass, vases, heat-resistant glass.

  • Hazardous waste truck

    Collection point and dates

    Hazardous waste includes everything that is harmful for humans, animals or the en­vironment. For reasons of public safety it is not collected together with other waste. 

    Hazardous waste may under no circumstance be disposed of in household garbage cans or toilets.

    Private households can take small amounts of hazardous waste free of charge to the hazardous waste truck (“Umweltmobil”). The hazardous waste truck also accepts small electric appliances.

    Once a month the hazardous waste truck stops in Reichenbach-Steegen at Hauptstraße. Please check the schedule for the Reichenbach-Steegen community to find out the dates and hours of the stops.

    What can be taken to the hazardous waste truck

    Paints and varnishes, all types of batteries, medicine without packaging, pesticides and wood preservers, leaches, acids, diluents, other toxins and hazardous substances and chemicals.
