In the Herforst community the KAB Chapter Herforst provides exemplary services for senior citizens. Their services are available to all senior citizens living in Herforst.  

For 25 years, the KAB women, with Ms. Lydia Meiers' lead, organizes events for senior citizens every month. In scope of their motto „Treff gemeinsam erleben“ ("Make common experiences") they offer a variety of programs, where the elderly can meet i. e. homelike meetings with coffee and cake, excursions, interesting lectures, and a chance to celebrate Carnival, Christmas or other festivities together, throughout the year. Of great significance to participants is the opportunity to talk and exchange ideas.

Come and join us and get acquainted with our philosophy. Step away from your daily routine and treat yourself to a few hours rich in variety, with like-minded people.

Short Description

The Children's Dance Group Herforst is a vigorous company of dance enthusiasts. With their great dance performances and costumes they entertain their audience at various events and festivities, mainly in Herforst. We invite all of the dance-loving children in Herforst and the neighboring communities.

Currently, we have two dancing instructors, Ms. Pia Pallien and Ms. Nicole Orth, teaching more than 20 dancers between 6 and 13 years old. We train every Wednesday at the Gemeindehaus in Herforst. Due to the large number of interested children, we have two age groups: 

Group I: 6 to approx. 10 years –

Instructor Pia Pallien – Training: 5:00 to 5:45 pm

Group II: Approx. 10 to 12/13 years –

Instructor Nicole Orth – Training: 5:45 to 6:30 pm

Short Description

We are an open-minded, productive choir with a long standing tradition. Every new member is cordially accepted in our group.

Our rehearsals take place weekly, on Mondays between 8 and 10 pm in the Pater-Matthias-Schneider-House. There is always a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.

Our comprehensive repertoire consists of church music of all stylistic eras. 
We create festive church masses in the Herforst parish church St. Eligius, but we also carry out regular concerts with companioned choirs.

Eventful excursions and tours as well as joyful celebrations and social life round off our offerings.

Short Description

Our mayor, Werner Pick motivated a group of interested amateurs to meet and the smorgasbord decided to revive Herforst's Theater tradition.

Of course, no one of our group had any idea what it means to perform in Drama Theater and where to start such a project. Luckily, we found a great teacher with Ms. Margret Meier. She took the lead of our group and taught us the basics of play-acting, with a lot of patience on her part.

After we performed in several small play-acts, we planned the premiere of our first large theater project "The bachelor's wedding" in Spring 1992, a drama fromCharles Gérard.

All 13 acting amateurs supplied best entertainment. The stage decoration, which was hand-crafted with very small detail, also won over the audience - everything was so well received, we knew the Drama Theater would have a future in the Herforst Gemeindehaus.

Short Description

We engage in over 2000 years of Herforst's History, Traditions, Customs, and Culture but regardless live in the present. No ifs and buts, this club was and is needed, if not by now behind time. With its aim to grasp, preserve and salvage the almost forgotten, lost or irretrievable.

Short Description

A special manifestation of solidarity is playing music together in the Herforst Music Club.

Music lets people forget everyday worries and forms a special bond between musicians and audience. This was probably motivation for the few men, who decided, about 75 years ago, to form a music club in Herforst.

No one knew, back in the day, that their endeavor would be a pillar of social and cultural life with such a long tradition in Herforst.

Music creates a special carrying bond between generations, hardly presentable at any other club in Herforst.  It is very nice to see that many young people not only shape the music, but also contribute to it with their new musical aspects.

Short Description

Sports operations for the soccer and ping-pong teams with together 12 teams are organized by the sports community in self-responsibility.

Such a comprehensive task can only be done, because of dedicated people, taking on responsibility in voluntary and gratuitous work as trainer, youth instructor, referee, board member or as “ping-pong-mom” or “soccer-dad”, which drive the kids from and to games away from home.

Short Description

According to chronological documentation, a fire in Simon Samuel's estate in July 1889, gave reason to establish a firefighter force in Herforst. 

Every third year, the volunteer fire brigade organizes the Heerbischda Festival. In this context, other fire brigades of the Municipality of Speicher already celebrated the Associations Firefighter events several times.
