At the Ramstein farmers’ market various exhibitors will present rural traditions and lifestyle, as well as arts and crafts and culinary specialties.A church service is held at the Congress Center Ramstein (CCR). Visitors can purchase harvest-fresh products such as apples, vegetables, pumpkins, and sweet corn from the local area. Also, a large choice of meat and sausage products, handmade cheese, jellies, liquors, bread, oils, honey, coffee etc. are available. Craftsmanship, decoration items, gift articles etc. are presented, too. Animals like fowl, rabbits, donkeys, and sheep that are shown throughout the market square, especially awake the children´s interest. The kids´ program includes face painting, pumpkin carving, throwing the horseshoe and a wheel of fortune. Musical entertainment is provided as well. The scent of hearty soups, stir-fried dishes or bratwurst invites the guests to stay and enjoy local specialties. In honor of Saint Wendelinus the church parish of Ramstein celebrated the “Wendelinus Market” in 1710 for the first time. The patron saint answered the prayers of the locals and protected their livestock against epizootic disease. The market was revived in 1986. Today the market features numerous exhibitors offering a large variety of goods such as gift and decoration items, wood carving, leatherwork, jewelry, children´s clothing, crochet work, scarves, and a lot more. A great choice of culinary specialties is available, too. Furthermore, live musical entertainment is presented. The opening ceremony and church service is held inside the festival tent at 11 a.m. Visitors can bring their pets along to have them blessed.

Ages ago the “Krammarkt” used to be the traditional Miesenbach cattle market. The market is held at the former schoolhouse in Miesenbach and starts at 8 a.m. Vendors offer a large number of goods and products. Their items range from Christmas cookies, herbs and spices to Advent decoration, leather purses, fashion jewelry, household goods, handicraft, and a lot more. Scarves and caps for the cold season are available as well. Booths will be open all day long. At lunchtime a great offer of dishes such as pea soup, beef served with horse radish, grilled sausages and meatballs etc. are offered inside the heated tent. In the afternoon coffee and cakes are offered at the “Haus der Vereine”.

Originally the ancient sandstone cross stood in the “Reichswald” forest area where the Ramstein Air Base is located nowadays. In the 1950s when the construction of the air base started the cross was relocated to its present site.
The monument shows the engravings of two symbols – a cup and a book. According to a local legend these symbols commemorate a priest who had fallen victim to robbery and murder on his way to Ramstein.

The Docu Center displays this important chapter in German-American and European contemporary history through a professionally designed bilingual exhibition. The exhibition site with several red containers is located next to the Ramstein sports stadium. Here you can find out facts about the development over the past 60 years, the significance of the US clubs, and the air show disaster of 1988. Special exhibitions are presented as well.
